We are a real life dominant/submissive couple currently living and working in
southeastern US (formerly in the greater
NY metropolitan area)..
We belong to several groups and count many among our friends, here (on line) and
in real life who are a part of this "alternative lifestyle" known as
BDSM.
Over the years we have found many views expressed within the life. Some on line,
some in real life.
Diversity of opinion is one of the things that makes this life what it is: so
rich in experience and in the peoples that populate it.
Since the inception of the internet, the ability to get the word out to those
seeking something tangible in the area of BDSM has become rife. People either
come out to the internet to learn, to play, or to fantasize.
Of late, there have been people who take the fantasy aspect of this interaction
to an extreme that is unhealthy for the people they visit it upon. They portray their
experiences, their longevity in the life, their experience in learning, their
basic facts (age, statistics, abilities, etc.) as real life (when in fact they
are not), and attempt to influence others in the way they behave, the friends
they may (or may not have), and even interactions between themselves and their
families.
For those of you who have knowledge of this lifestyle, those are some of the classic
examples of manipulation that may lead to something worse ('definitive red
flags').
Because this has happened to a friend of ours, I am posting this website in an effort to assist others in understanding the insupportable fantasies,
foibles and (outright) lies that are propagated out here by these individuals
and through the medium of the chat rooms, web boards and websites.
We do this in an effort to educate so that others may not experience the pain of
making a friend one considers "real" and "true", only to
find out later that they are lying without moral compunction in an effort to
support their own waning egos.
